 bonnet tape n. double piping with fabric covering used to keep bonnet of on older-style cars from rubbing in the paintwork of the panels beneath them: Đường viền nắp capô.

boot n. (a) separate area for lugguage behind the rear seats and mostly behind the rear window, or below the rear window in the case of fastback designs, with a hinged cover: Ngăn hành lý (capô sau)

to put on or apply the brakes = to brake: Đạp phanh.
to stand on the brakes = (informal ) to brake hard: Kẹt phanh.

to test an engine on the brake = to find out how much power an engine develops: Đo công suất động cơ. (NOTE: the device used nowadays is called a dynamometer)
